Do I Need an Ob-Gyn?

OBGYN stands for obstetrician/gynecologist. This term refers to a doctor that specializes in female reproductive and sexual health, pregnancy, and childbirth. OBGYNs are both doctors and surgeons with advanced training in surgical techniques and medicine to help women thrive and feel their best. Dr. Tanita and his team specialize in advanced techniques, including robotic surgery, to ensure you have access to the latest treatments for optimal health.

  • Obstetrics – Obstetrics is a branch of medicine that focuses on pregnancy and childbirth. Our obstetrics services include prenatal care, pregnancy support, childbirth, and postpartum care.
  • Gynecology – Gynecology is a branch of medicine that focuses on female reproductive health. Our gynecology services include preventative care for female reproductive health concerns, birth control, and STI testing and counseling.

If you’re a woman, you need an ob-gyn to provide specialized healthcare services to protect your reproductive and sexual health. An OBGYN can provide preventive healthcare screenings like breast exams and pap smears.

The best way to treat health issues is preventatively. By establishing care with an OBGYN before health issues arise, you can prevent many health concerns or address concerning changes early, while they are most treatable.
